The Tree Planters' Tribute
This slate is being created to give tribute to everyone who
plants trees, from the Civilian Conservation Corps during the
Depression and the professional men and women who follow the
planting contracts to the community volunteer organizations and
corporations who have sponsored tree planting programs across
the nation. The slate depicts the process of tree planting in a
forest scene showing the cycle of life from seedlings to an old
growth forest.
Tree planters work from predawn to dusk, in all types of weather
and terrain. Quietly and rhythmically they labor to replant the
forests that provide us with the comforts and necessities of
living. Trees also provide beauty, clean air, water, shade and
habitats for wildlife, and will be enjoyed by generations to
come.
